Questions to ask about outboard parts and sailing tools

Considering the purchase of a new or used boat? If so, here are some additional questions you’ll want to ask yourself before you lay your money down.
One, how much money do you have for this venture? Know that depending upon the type of engine mount you choose, there may be a steady outlay of money for things like outboard parts. You are going to need to purchase top quality parts and accessories for your boat, so don’t go cheap when the time comes.
Two, if you decide to buy an Evinrude or Johnson powered boat, you are going to want to be familiar with where to purchase quality OMC parts at the best prices possible.
Three, do you have the proper tools to do the work your boat will require? Clearly there are an infinite amount of tools one could own, however, you’ll want a well stocked tool box so you can make emergency repairs and perform regular maintenance in a timely fashion.
Finally, where will you keep your boat. Is it to be stored on a trailer in your garage, or will it be kept in a boat house on a lake? Perhaps you’ll need to secure a slip in the local marina? These are but a few of the questions you should try and answer prior to buying that sailing masterpiece.
