A Look at Airsoft Gun Pellets
By Brains on Jun 17, 2008 in Sports
Once an individual has purchased his or her first airsoft gun, the next question to wonder about is what type of pellets should be used. Though there are steel BB’s available, the vast majority of airsoft enthusiasts use plastic pellets. Some are coated in metal or graphite and weigh 0.12 to .60 grams depending on what type of airsoft gun a player is using. Automatic electric guns, gas powered guns and airsoft sniper riflesall have different pellet weights that will work best. Weapons that offer fully automatic fire will do better with certain weights than spring loaded single shot weapons.
A plastic pellet is often a six millimeter sphere that is totally biodegradable. This makes them perfect for outdoor play. In general, the lighter weights are used for gas powered and spring loaded airsoft guns. Electric guns accommodate a weight of .25 at its heaviest. Weights of .30 and above are left to sniper rifles with .60 often used in sniper rifles that have been modified. Upon purchasing an airsoft weapon, one can ask what weight of pellet will be best for their purchase. Some guns, like Echo 1 airsoft guns may have a recommended weight as well as pellet brand to use with their products.
