Doing Things at The Last Minute

I would love to be one of those people who likes to plan everything in advance. I would like to be organized in that way, to get my work cleared off of my desk before every vacation and to always have my annual doctors’ appointments scheduled months in advance. I am not one of those people. I am one of those people who does everything at the last minute.

I’m the kind of person who will book a last minute vacation only minutes after realizing that I probably don’t have enough money to afford a vacation package for at least another year. I am the kind of person who will book a vacation hotel upon arrival at a destination instead of trying to plan that out before I get on the plane. I am one of those people who doesn’t know what I want to see or do at a destination until I’m already doing it.

It’s not just travel that I do at the last minute. I sneak into theatre performances as the lights go down. I am that person who shows up just before the restaurant is supposed to close. I would love not to be this way. But I’ve tried to change it before and it seems to grate against my very nature to try to do things in advance. It’s just one of those things I’ve learned to accept about myself over the years. Now if I only I could get my friends and family to accept it!
