Right Through the Fence

A long time ago, I had a red Husky named Max. The dog was a little out of control, but that was probably more my fault than anything else. I did not really have the time to spend on training him, and I didn’t know what I was doing anyway in that department.

When I got him I did not have a fence and I lived on several acres. When I looked into fence pricing and combined that with just how ugly fences are, I decided to get the PetSafe wireless dog fence. It didn’t take long for Max to catch on to how it worked, and I followed the training instructions that came with it. It worked just perfectly, and I never had any problems with it. That was until one morning when a little red fox trotted through the yard and Max gave chase.

He ran through the sliding glass dog door, and all of the electronic training collars in the world would not have kept him in the yard this time. After the first time he made it through the invisible force field, it must have been some kind of epiphany. It almost instantly became the daily routine until I replaced the shocker with a physical fence.
