Off to College

My baby girl is graduating high school in two weeks and will be leaving for college soon to get started with summer classes. Yes. She wants to start classes early and have a head start on her credits. She has always been an over achiever. She has also always been a joy to have at home and I’m so sad to see her sprouting wings and flying out of the nest.
I really am going to miss her.
This weekend we will drive down to Boulder to look for her apartment and get to know the town. As you may have guessed, she will be attending CU (go Buffs!). A new queen bed will be on the list of big purchases we will need to shop for to outfit her apartment. Perhaps, instead of a complete queen bed, I should get her a headboard. It seems a headboard would be easier to move as she probably won’t stay in the same apartment for the full four years at CU. I don’t want to send her to school with her current bed because I want her to have a room she can come home to on any weekend she chooses. I actually hope she will bring her laundry home and she will rummage our house for good food. Those ideas keep me going.

It is very hard to see your child go off to college. My son is a freshmen at college right now and I almost died when he left the house. It will get easier dont worry!

I left my daughters room exactly how she left it when she went to college. I wanted everything to be the same when she came home. I think putting a headboard behind the bed is a good idea if that is what she likes for her room.

My dad had such a hard time letting me go to college. He tried getting me to go to our local community college so I wouldnt move out of the house. I did not want to go to community college. He ended up geting over the fact that I left the house to go to college and we still talk everyday!

I think putting a backboard behind her bed is a great idea. I know how hard it is to see your daughter leave the house and go to college. I did not want my daughter leaving the house but I knew it was the best thing for her. My favorite time was when she came home and did her laundry at the house and ate all of our food!!

I went to college when I was 17. My dad was freaking out when I wanted to go to college and leave the house at 17. Anyways I know it will be very hard to have your daughter not live at your house but it will make her visits so special. Tell her you want her to come home every weekend for dinner. That is what I did and it ended up working out great.
