Candles vs. Incense

Scented jar candles and incense are both very good ways to scent a room, either to freshen the air or to create a desired mood, but they are also both very different.  Here are a few pros and cons of each to consider.

  • Is there a reason you can’t have an open flame?  A candle, of course, does have an open flame, so if you live in a dorm or an apartment where there are rules against that, or if you have pets or kids that might get burned or knock the candle over, you might want to consider incense instead.
  • Does smoke irritate you?  Incense by nature is very smoky, whereas candles burn much more cleanly.  If smoke bothers you, you may want to stay away from incense, or at least only burn it in a well-ventilated room.
  • Are you concerned with asthetics?  Jar candles can be used to create a more asthetically pleasing effect.

It’s hard to say whether one is better than the other with candles and incense.  Usually this preference is a very personal choice, dependingly greatly on your current circumstances and needs.  Consider your decision carefully — there are plenty of options available in both candles and incense once you make your choice.
