Why I Went with Windows Hosting

I didn’t take the decision about which type of web hosting to get lightly at all. I knew that getting a good web host could make or break me in terms of how easy it would be to set up my website and to keep it running efficiently. As a result, I read through numerous web hosting reviews and pondered all of my choices carefully.

At first I didn’t think that I was committed to Microsoft Windows. I was seriously considering switching over to a Linux system and getting linux hosting. But ultimately I decided that windows hosting was the way to go.

That decision was based primarily on the fact that I really do like Windows software and products. Although I don’t think that they’re necessarily the best on the market, I do think that they remain ubiquitous. I work with a number of different clients and am regularly engaging in remote collaboration. Some of that collaboration requires me to give website access to different people on my team. Because everyone is familair with Windows, it seemed to make the most sense to go with what others know.

Down the line, I might change my mind. There are certainly benefits to Linux and other operating systems that aren’t available right now through Windows. But until those options become the norm, windows hosting was the solution that made the most sense.
