Donate Gift Baskets to Nursing Homes for Xmas
By bwb on Nov 18, 2009 in Hospitality
Christmas is a time of year when many of us would like to give back to the communities around us. However, with so little money to go around these days, it can seem tough to donate anything to charity. Keep in mind that you can spend very little and still give a great gift to someone in need. A terrific example of this is the gift basket made for someone who lives in a nursing home.
A gift basket for someone in a nursing home is simply a basic basket filled with inexpensive items that they might need. This could include toiletries, diabetic socks, comfort shoes, a hand-knitted scarf, etc. It might also include little treats like handmade Christmas ornaments or homemade cookies. You should be able to make a single gift basket for less than $20. You can make a really special one for less than $100.
The best thing to do is to get a group together to each create this type of gift basket. Each person donates only one or two baskets. You get enough people together to get enough baskets for your local neighborhood nursing center. You’ll have fun making the baskets with your friends. And the appreciation that you get from the people who live in those nursing homes will make you glad that you donated your time and money again this year.
