Doctors Have Health Insurance Problems Too

The last time that I was at my doctor’s office, I found myself complaining about my health insurance. I was surprised to find out that my doctor also doesn’t have medical insurance that she is pleased with. I would have assumed that people within the medical community are part of a sort of social network that makes it easy for them to get great health insurance coverage.
My doctor informed me that this is not the case. She did say that she certainly gets benefits in terms of medical care because of the people that she knows. She gets immediate appointments with other care providers who have long waiting lists. She gets the best care from the right people when something is wrong. And she gets good advice from others.
For example, a dentist friend of hers was telling her about dentist disability insurance and that caused her to do some research into disability insurance for physicians. She didn’t even think to have disability insurance before that conversation. So she does get health benefits from being involved in the medical community but great health insurance coverage isn’t one of them. Guess that’s a problem facing everyone in the nation today, isn’t it?!
