We all know about "rewards" credit cards. These credit cards use a point system - for every dollar you spend, you get a point and those points add up to a variety of different rewards that you can purchase. These credit cards are great as they are but we’re actually currently seeing a change happening with them. Whereas they have historically been used by consumers who want to purchase rewards for themselves, they are increasingly starting to be used by consumers interested in using their points to make purchases for others.

Yes, it is sometimes the case that these points are used to buy gifts for birthdays and holidays. But even more than that, there is a trend by consumers to seek out those rewards cards which use this type of point system to give donations to charity. Many of these cards are designed for people who are actively pro-environment. The points equal to dollar amounts which are donated to specific organizations working towards creating a better earth. However, there are other charity cards coming into the market which are also gaining in popularity.

It’s nice when your credit cards give back to you. But in a way, it’s even nicer that your spending can truly go to benefit the community around you.
