Nearby Trees are Not Ideal For a Built-In Grill

I wish I had a good situation for a nice built in grill like one of those by Fire Magic.  But I don’t know; with a wooden deck that’s elevated, should I be looking at just aTrees regular rolling barbecue instead?  Right now, my husband rolls it out right in the middle of the deck and leaves it there; it’s like the center piece of our whole view when he does that.  Then I turn around and push it back out of view.

The same company makes a really neat Fire Magic bbq island.  Now, maybe this would look a lot better than a plain old rolling bbq, but then again, our deck really isn’t all that deep.   What’s out there that looks pretty good, doesn’t need a whole lot of protection from snow, and doesn’t take up a lot of room?  I think they should invent some sort of heavy duty folding legs to a big flat grill that you can fold up and slip into a carrying case to put away after each use.  I actually think it would even stay cleaner that way:  we get a lot of dust where we live, and the Ponderosa Pines put off a lot of pollen in late May and early June.  It gets into every nook and cranny-even into the barbecue!

What is it with men and their grills? They all have to have them, and there’s never a good place to put them. I’m with you: I don’t like looking at them either!

What’s underneath your elevated deck? If it isn’t paved, maybe you could look into cementing it. Then you’d have a nice slab area where your husband could put a big grill, and you wouldn’t have to look at it!

Do you have a cover for it? That would probably help keep the pollen out … plus then you wouldn’t have to see it when it’s not in use. :)

Yeah just make sure you don’t let any critters make a home underneath the cover. I saw on TV once where this guy was getting his grill out, and he noticed some bees coming out from underneath the cover so he set off an inset bomb. Turned out the bees had built a hive under his grill and there were HUNDREDS of them under there! Obviously, though, he hadn’t used his grill in a really long time.

Those BBQ islands are sweet!! You gotta have the space for them though. I don’t think you could put one on an elevated deck.
