Online Degrees: 5 Types of People They’re Good For

Online degrees are fast becoming the educational method of the future.  The flexibility of an online degree makes education available to people who wouldn’t otherwise be able to get an education.

Here are 5 types of people who can benefit from an online college degree:

  1. Working parents.  Do you have work and family responsibilities that you just can’t get around?  No problem!  Online classes allow you to plan your education around your other responsibilities.  With no campus classes to attend, you can visit your class website and perform coursework when your kids are asleep or otherwise occupied.
  2. People who work long hours.  Does your job require you to work overtime?  Or do you work two jobs?  An online education can be pursued whenever you have the most time — whether than is late at night, first thing in the morning, between shifts, on your lunch break, or during quiet periods at work (shhh).
  3. People whose bosses aren’t willing to work around a school schedule.  One of the hardest parts about going back to school is getting your employer to work with your varying schedule.  Class schedules can change every semester, making it even harder to get your boss to agree to work with you.  However, with an online degree, you can pursue your education whenever you have time — your boss be d___ed!
  4. Stay-at-home moms and primary caregivers.  Work isn’t the only reason you might be unable to take traditional classes.  If you are the primary caregiver for your (or someone else’s) children, you may not have the option of leaving to take classes in the middle of the day — or even in the evening.  Taking online classes will allow you to pursue your education even while you’re at home with the kids.
  5. Anyone with a full-time job.  Let’s face it — even if you don’t work overtime or a second job, even if your boss is fairly flexible, and even if you don’t have family responsibilities on top of it all, attending campus classes can be really HARD sometimes, especially for returning students.  You may not feel like going at a certain time; you might get sick; you might have to miss class due to unexpected problems; or you might not be able to make the commute due to a lack of transportation options.  If you want to get your degree but are concerned about sticking with it through all the inconveniences, then an online program might be exactly what you need!
