As a physician disability insurance was something I thought that I would not be able to easily obtain. Since I have my own practice, I am technically self employed which I assumed would mean there would be no way to take advantage of thins like group discounts or group plans. I also had no clue where to begin my search. Should I just contact a normal disability insurance company? I knew I needed to do something, because if I were to get hurt or sick and become unable to work, my health insurance wouldn’t exactly pay all of my normal bills!

So I did the obvious, and I got online. I punched “disability insurance for physician” into Google, and several results for disability insurance companies that cater to my profession came up. The first one I clicked on made it really easy to get quotes too. They use several different companies, so I was able to comparison shop right from one website. After I made the decision as to which company would best fit my needs, they emailed me an application which was easy to fill out, scan and return. They took care of all of the rest, and now I’m covered after barely lifting a finger.
