The Fact I Am Male Does Not Mean I Can Fix Your Car
By Brains on Oct 17, 2008 in Automotive
You know, as a male, I am expected to know things about cars and machinery etc, but to be honest. I am clueless. Someone asked me the other day what an oil flow monitor was the other day, and other than saying that it was something that controlled the flow of oil, I have no clue whatsoever. My father told me that a mass air flow sensor was bad in his car and I just shook my head and nodded.
I didn’t know that there was a sensor in the car that controlled mass air flow. All I know about a car is that I put gas in it, use the key to start it up and it runs. If the tires go flat, I get the tires replaced. However, if something goes wrong with something with the car’s computer components, that I can sometimes diagnose.
I had a problem with the car shifting gears. Normally this is a transmission problem. What was weird was that the car did this after it ran for about 45 minutes. This seemed similar to a computer with a faulty motherboard. Once it gets hot, the computer would start malfunctioning. I get it looked at and sure enough; the sensor for the drive train was bad. $80 and my car was fixed. I guess I’m not quite as useless with machinery after all.
